Are You On The VINE?
There is a new app in town if you haven’t heard about it yet, don’t worry you will. It is called Vine and you can use it to do 6 second videos that you can post to Facebook, Twitter, and Vine within minutes, making your videos available to your network in a flash.
Who should use Vine and why ? Vine is a fun tool to play with, but it also has come great applications for businesses, as well. It is a great way to promote an event, show a house, show an item, a product, a recipe, promote your book, a quick note, or quickly share a message with your network. For restaurants, it would be great for the special of the day, or a new entree on the menu. For the retail store, announce your new item, or do a mini fashion show. You just wrote a new article announce it using Vine, and invite people over to your page to check it out! The opportunities are endless.
Here is the good news – it’s easy to use. It hooks up to your twitter account, and is kind of fun to watch. It is relatively easy to record, and it is fast. Integration with all the platforms you use is easy, and it was easy for me to add my selections to YouTube as well with my iphone! It’s entertaining and new. Plus, cool bonus your video will loop and loop and loop, and you can also start and stop, which is great for before and after shots. It’s a great way to introduce what you are doing to your audience and to make the most out of video without a lot of work on your part. It’s also a great way to introduce your audience, and yourself to video.
The cons – 6 seconds go by really fast, so it will probably take some time for you to get used to using it. It’s new so expect bugs, just trust me on this one. It is not ideal for taping yourself, unless you want a close-up because you have to keep your hand on the button in order to record. It would be great if you could talk to people who haven’t posted videos yet, and of now that doesn’t appear to be an option. Post it now or lose your chance, at least that how it looks right now. If you don’t post your Vine the first time, it doesn’t look like you can go back later.
It’s new, and it is a cool tool, Twitter’s answer to Instagram at least for right now. Word on the street is Facebook is working on a short video product of its own so look out for it. Vine is a cool tool, with tons of applications. Try it out and tell us what you think!
